Three passes trek day 5 - Namche Bazaar to Khumjung, Khumde, etc (circuit).Nov 2
In my notebook entry for this day it says: To be written....
So briefly, based on recollections from 1 month ago, here's what happened. This was our 2nd acclimatisation day, trekking to a higher point than we would be sleeping so that the body learns to adjust to the lower density air before climbing higher. So we did a 3-4 hour circuit to Khumjung and Khumde, including breakfast at the Everest view lodge, a very posh hotel ( by trekking standards) which has a good view of Everest, and an even better view of Ama Dablam, a particularly steep and craggy looking mountain, which an Indian-Australian woman was peering at intently through her telescope to view a group of climbers, one of which was her husband. So we all took turns at watching a human ant trail scale a mountain at considerable risk (the previous day a climber had fallen down a crevice, but luckily was rescued). We will be visiting Ama Dablam base camp later in the trek.
